Circus Arts Regional Centre of Lomme

Professional training courses began in 2001, and every year ten to fifteen new trainees join the first year of professional artistic training and preparation for higher level training. In 2010-2011  there were a total of 50 students from 8 different nationalities.

Professional artistic programme trains young people during 3 years to enter the professional job market. Preparatory programme aims at helping future artists to enter professional schools, whether in France or internationally.

Training programmes are based on five main pillars:

Creation: On the basis of a circus life in perpetual motion, the Circus Arts Centre takes its richness and diversity from its wish to bring together circus arts and other arts education in the circus ring. However it is important for trainees to discover a wide repertoire before their own creativity is prioritised.

Space: Circus is the ring. But it's also important to experience other types of venue: the stage, the street, disused locations, prisons etc.

Acting: Each trainee should explore theatre text s at some point in his/her tranining (the cannon or contemporary writing)

Dance: Before feeling sufficiently comfortable with their own bodies, trainees will go through dance technical basis including ballet, contemporary dance and hip hop.

Circus techniques: Techniques are presented once they are perfectly mastered.

Curriculum offered:

• Professional artistic training: 3 years of technical and artistic training. 2012 Applications form available to download here (in French only) to be returned by 23 April. Preselections and selections from 16th to 18th May 2012.
• Preparatory training: 1 year to get prepared to superior school entrance exams.
