Lyon Circus School

Taking part in the development of circus arts in Lyon and in the local region, the Circus school of Lyon develops several activities:

• amateurs practice
• mediation and artistic education projects
• professional training
• support for the emergence of young artists

The school is also strongly involved in the cultural life of Lyon and works in partnership with numerous cultural institutions and local artists.

The preparatory training course in circus arts welcomes 12 pupils for 2 years. This training is financed by the Rhône-Alpes Region.

It aims to allow the participants to acquire a robust foundation of circus fundamentals, and to approach artistic and creative elements as well as the requirements of a circus artist's profession.

The educational approach consists of drawing out artistic personality, acquiring knowledge of one's body, developing physical abilities, and making the body serve the art.

Admission: Application form available in late February, to be returned at the end of May. Shortlisted candidates will receive an invitation to attend a one-day audition at the end of June.

In 2012: application form downloadable here (in French) to be returned by 25th May. One-day auditions to be scheduled between 27 to 29 June, 2012.
