École Nationale des Arts du Cirque de Rosny-sous-Bois

Ecole NationalE des Arts du Cirque de Rosny-sous-Bois – ENACR

National Circus Arts School of Rosny-sous-bois

Bernard Turin inspired the creation of E.N.A.C.R. , which grew from the will of a group of passionate people supported by the city council of Rosny-sous-Bois. The current president is  José Manuel Gonçalves, director of the Ferme du Buisson (National Theatre of Marne-la-Vallée).

E.N.A.C.R. has been developing circus courses for amateurs since 1983, and for professionals since 1991.

The professional course leads (over two years) to a state diploma unique in Europe: the Brevet Artistique des Techniques du Cirque (Circus Techniques Artistic Certificate). This course, open to young people wishing to become circus artists, is currently being revised to become a three-year course leading to a higher education degree diploma. The aim is to provide students with high-level technical and artistic skills and team spirit.

They soon discover the demands of the circus in terms of working as a group with an artistic team, rigour, autonomy, managment of circus  equipment and safety. Students are also involved in professional situations, in and outside the school, and in at least one international project.

E.N.A.C.R. is also a place for children (aged 4 and above) and adults to learn and practice as amateurs. It enables generations to meet each other; it develops exchanges, interactions and collaborations supported by the professional training team. One of E.N.A.C.R.'s objectives is to create a good "performer-spectator" dynamic.

E.N.A.C.R.'s principal partners are the City of Rosny-sous-Bois, the Ministry of Culture (Music, Dance, Theatre and Performance Directorate), the Seine-Saint-Denis General Council and the Ile-de-France Regional Council.
