ELIA has just published the final version (both print and digital) of its position paper on the Doctorate in the Arts which had been discussed at ELIA’s Biennial in December 2016 in Florence. After the feedback was collected and evaluated the partners (AEC, Cumulus, Cilect, EAAE and SAR) endorsed it.

The 'Florence Principles' is formulated as a point of reference for policymakers, university leaders, curriculum designers and research funding agencies. It is addressed to universities of art and science alike, helping the former to secure recognition for their endeavors (with national funding bodies, legislature, etc.) and helping the latter to learn about the research developments within the art university sector.
