ELIA’s NXT Conference Making a Living from the Arts will take place on 14-15 September 2017 in Amsterdam, hosted by the Amsterdam University of the Arts (AHK).

What is meant with cultural entrepreneurship in and outside academia?

In order to answer such question, this two-day dynamic event will challenge values, beliefs and myths around the word ‘entrepreneurship’, stimulating a critical debate on different discourses and misconceptions around entrepreneurship in the arts. Bringing examples of innovative practices, the NXT Conference aims to reclaim the entrepreneurial field as applicable to artists and arts practitioners with a common and understandable terminology associated with it.

Michel Magnier, Director of Culture and Creativity at DG Education and CultureEuropean Commission will speak at the Opening Plenary of the NXT Conference on 14 September.

Mr. Magnier will share his vision about the future role of artists in our society and how policymakers and higher arts education institutions can contribute to their development.
