From 21 until 26 October 2018, FEDEC organised its Encounters on the 31st edition of CIRCa Festival in Auch, France.

FEDEC Encounters at CIRCa means about 150 people from about fifteen different countries gathering to contribute to the international dimension of this festival, a hub for contemporary circus creation. Together they form an ephemeral “European Circus Arts School”.

The 12th Encounters presented a rich programme for all FEDEC members their students, teachers and directors with, of course, all the festival’s events, circus shows and professionals meetings organised by the CIRCa Festival.

CIRCLE

The CIRCLE are the performances of circus students members of FEDEC’s schools. This year, for the 12th edition of the CIRCLE project, students coming from 9 FEDEC schools, located in 6 countries, presented shows created during creative workshops.

The performances took place downtown in the Maison de Gascogne. :

5.00pm: Ecole de Cirque de Bordeaux (France)

• Tuesday 23 October

3.00pm: Centre Régional des Arts du Cirque de Lomme (France)
5.00pm: Escuela de Circo Carampa (Madrid, Spain)

• Wednesday 24 October

3.00pm: Arc en Cirque (Nice, France)
5.00pm: National Centre for Circus Arts (London, United-Kingdom) in a last minut collaboration with CADC Balthazar (Montpellier, France)

• Thursday 25 October

3.00pm: Codarts Rotterdam - Circus Arts (Netherlands)
5.00pm: Cirko Vertigo (Turin, Italy)

At the end of each performance the public was invited to meet and discuss with students and members of the teaching staff on the educational and creation approaches of the performances.

REFLECT Lab – Training for teachers

A new training lab for teachers on the theme of the students collective creation process around the project CIRCLE was organized specifically for members of the FEDEC (free training).

The meeting gave the opportunity of having some feedbacks on the project and on the previous and future Labs (Turin March 2018, Auch October 2018, Rotterdam 2019).

General Assembly

FEDEC Managing Board and team took stock of the year 2018 and presented the work program 2019. This General Assembly was the opportunity to talk about the future European cooperation project that FEDEC wishes to develop over the next three years.

The pedagological and artistic directors of FEDEC met to continue their exchanges on professionnal insertion

The FEDEC and CIRCa teams took time to recap the programme of the week and to respond to the different logistical questions of CIRCLE participants and the participants of the REFLECT Lab.
