For 40 years, Die Etage School for Performance and Visual Arts has been offering professional courses in circus, acting, mime, dance, musical theatre, painting and set design. The circus department of Die Etage exists since the creation of the school in 1981, and has produced artists who have gone on to perform at the highest level throughout the world.
The circus department at Die Etage offers a 3-year study programme aimed at training and preparing students for a life as professional contemporary circus artists. Students receive instruction primarily in the circus disciplines Floor and partner acrobatics, aerial acrobatics and juggling/object manipulation.
The circus department cooperates with the other departments in the school and is therefore able to offer a broad range of performance arts education. All circus students therefore also have courses in ballet, mime/physical theatre, contemporary dance, acting and dance acrobatics.
Die Etage is a non-profit organisation, fees are charged in order to cover operating costs. Students may apply for educational grants since Die Etage is recognised by the Bundesausbildungsförderungsgesetz (BAföG – German scholarship Programme). Die Etage students receive student ID’s and benefit from related discounts.
