Escuela de Circo Carampa - Association de Malabaristas
Escuela de Circo CARAMPAThe Asociación de Malabaristas (A.M.) was created in 1987 as a platform for those who wish to meet, learn, exchange, communicate ideas, share knowledge and experiences and undertake projects in the circus arts. In 1994, the association bought its first circus tent (carpa), and started a circus training project - the project of the AM in its car_pa: carAMpa! La Escuela de Circo Carampa has been at the heart of the professional circus training movement in Spain since 1994. The staff is made up of professional artists, competition level athletes, and excellent teachers with years of experience, pedagogical rigor, and a lively and open way of thinking about the training process. All this gives the programme a dynamic character - we learn from what we teach, and as a result, the quality of the training process improves from day to day. Carampa´s professional training is a programme based on respect towards the students and their aspirations, where creativity, technical excellence, safety, and teamwork of utmost importance. Aside from the professional programme, Carampa offers a full schedule of youth and leisure circus courses, as well as specialist courses for professionals and high-level amateurs. The professional training programme offers practical and theoretical training in the circus arts, as well as a full range of vocational experiences, aimed at preparing the performer for his/her integration into the arts field. Carampa´s tent, in the centre of Madrid´s biggest park, Casa de Campo, is a meeting point for artists and circus practitioners from all over the world. Both the staff and the student body come from a dozen different countries, maintaining the cosmopolitan character that has always been a part of the circus arts. The main tent is a 600m² space, equipped with the best teaching materials, and the secondary tent, 100m², is ideal for theatre, dance and technical classes for smaller groups. Carampa is a centre dedicated exclusively to circus training, and participates, with other centres from Spain and around the world, in the definition and the development of this field. Every year, more than 10,000 people practice, learn, investigate, perfect and create circus arts within its walls, as students, teachers, practitioners and spectators of circus. Carampa receives economic support from the European Social Fund through the government of the Comunidad de Madrid, from Spain´s Ministerio de Cultura, and from the Comunidad de Madrid. A beautiful new space for the Carampa School is being built in Alcorcón, a town just outside of Madrid, and will be inaugurated in 2011. |
