From 20 to 23 April, 2013, the European Federation of Professional Circus Schools held its  fourth Internal Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark.

About thirty people, members of FEDEC schools and partners from 12 different countries, met  again to take part in the various meetings.

The Conference was warmly hosted by the Akademiet For Utæmmet kreativitet and also offered the opportunity to enter into a  dialogue with local political representatives and circus arts professionals, and to find out about the AFUK School and the Danish education system.

2013 Work Programme

The Internal Conference launched the 2013 Work programme, aiming at more in-depth work on  the following themes:

Focus group n°2: Definition of the teaching profession, continuing training needs,  continuing training engineering and publishing of educational tools: Presentation of the INTENTS project - Development of Innovation, and of its next steps. 

Focus group n°4: Circle: innovative opportunities to promote the work of graduates and  enhance their employability: Discussions around the 2013 project “Circle at Circa”. 

Focus Group n°5: Student mobility: Launch of “ESCALES” online survey.

Tools and services to members: presentation of the new developments on the FEDEC website: Members’ area and database of “Opportunities” offers.

MAILLONS: Workshop for Skills Enhancement for Educational and Artistic Directors

The third part of the MAILLONS02 workshop on the theme "Artistic education, an issue and a  tool for the circus of tomorrow?” was a big success with 24 educational and artistic  directors attending the workshop, who worked together on the construction of a Directory of  exercises and experiences of artistic creation.

Conference on circus arts education – Focus North

There were 40 participants at this Conference: political figures from Copenhagen, Danish circus arts stakeholders, and 17 members of FEDEC.
It gave the opportunity to present the situation of circus arts education in Denmark and to commend the launch of higher education  programmes in circus arts at AFUK in September 2013. It also provided an international  perspective on the structuring and recognition of professional circus arts schools in Europe  and Latin America, based on the experience of federations and FEDEC member schools.
