federation française des ecoles de cirque - ffec

French Federation of Circus Schools

The French Federation of Circus Schools is an association for the development and the harmonization of circus arts teaching.

The circus arts teaching recommended by the FFEC follows very precise ethics, governed by a system of accreditations that circus schools have to meet. These approvals concern the following domains: health, safety, training, education and administration. Through these commitments, schools guarantee their pupils and partners a quality of teaching, "with respect for the individual ", and a durability of organisation.

FFEC has played an important role in the implementation of specific diplomas in the framework of circus arts - in particular the BIAC (Circus Arts Trainer's License) and the BISAC (Specialised Circus Arts Trainer's License).

In 2007, on FFEC's initiative and in close collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the BPJEPS (Professional Licence of  Youth, Popular Education and Sports) the speciality "Circus Activities" was created. It is a state-recognised diploma for teacher trainers (A-levels). Several federal training centres participate in its delivery.

FFEC is also a founder member of European Youth Circus Organisation, which is comprised of 9 national federations of leisure circus in 9 different countries. EYCO gathers 470 organisations that involve 2200 circus intructors and 550 000 practitioners.
