Circle: encounters between FEDEC schoolsCircle is a project enabling discussion and exchanges on educational and artistic approaches on a European scale through the presentation of vocational circus schools’ creative work in progress creations. It is also an opportunity to find out about circus schools from Europe and beyond and their students undergoing training – the circus artists of the future. Since its creation in 2007, the Circle project has taken various forms and has been evolving in order to adapt to the needs of the network.
Circle has been part of La Piste aux Espoirs festival (Tournai, France) in 2007 and the festival Circa (Auch, France) for 5 years. In 2011, Circle was also developped in the framework of the Future Circus Festival (Turku, Finland) organised by the Turku Academy of Applied Sciences.
"Kaleidoscopia" in TurkuIn 2011, Turku University of Applied Sciences - Circus Degree Programme, a FEDEC school member, invited 30 students from FEDEC schools to present a solo or group performance in the framework of the “Kaleidoscopia project – Collage of artistic approaches”. Thisproject has been set up in the framework of the Future Circus festival, part of Turku – European Capital of Culture 2011.

Circle at CircaCirca Festival has been inviting Circle, an international showcase of up and coming circus artists for 5 years. Through these Encounters, FEDEC encourages exchanges between current and future circus artists. At this annual gathering, the work of 12 schools from the FEDEC network from Europe and beyond can be shown through a 20 to 30 minutes original performance, created with their students during research and creation workshops. Meetings with students and vocational schools’ directors led by a FEDEC representative are offered after each show: an opportunity to learn more about the creative process within the circus arts training.
Circle takes place within the more global framework of FEDEC Encounters at Circa, every year at the end of October.
