Circle: encounters between FEDEC schools5th edition of Circle at Circa - October 2011the 5th edition of Circle at Circa festival took place in Auch (France) from 24th to 27th October, 2011. Under a packed cathedral circus tent brimming with enthusiasm, 12 FEDEC schools coming from Europe and beyond presented an original creation performed by the students and made after a research and creation workshop. Following schools took part to Circle in 2011: École Nationale des Arts du Cirque de Rosny-sous-Bois (Rosny-sous-bois, France) National Circus School (Montréal, Canada) Codarts - Rotterdam Circus Arts (Rotterdam, the Netherlands) Circus Space (Londres, UK) Staatliche Artistenschule Berlin (Berlin, Germany) Et vous trouvez ça drôle !!! Centre Régional des Arts du Cirque de Lomme (Lomme, France) Arc en Cirque - École de Cirque de Chambéry-le-Haut (Chambéry, France) Académie Fratellini (Saint-Denis, France) Ecole de Cirque de Lyon (Lyon, France) Ecole de Cirque de Québec (Québec, Canada) École Nationale de Cirque de Châtellerault (Châtellerault, France) Circomedia (Bristol, UK)
The meetings with the students performing and the schools’ directors organised after each presentation allowed to further discover the diversity of working methods and to learn on the aesthetical approaches and pedagogical programmes of the various vocational schools.

“Kaleidoscopia” in Turku- August 2011In 2011, Future Circus festival, part of Turku – European capital of culture 2011 and set up by Turku University of Applied Sciences - Circus Degree Programme (FEDEC member) invited 30 students from FEDEC schools to present a solo or group performance in the framework of the “Kaleidoscopia project – Collage of Fedec schools artistic approaches”. 8 schools performed at the Logomo Cultural Center from 23rd to 25th August, 2011: Imre Baross Circus Arts School - MaCiVa (Hungary); Die Etage (Germany); Circus Space (UK); Académie Fratellini (France), Turku University of Applied Sciences (Finland); École Supérieure des Arts du Cirque (Belgium); Fontys Academy for Circus and Performance Art (the Netherlands); Codarts-Rotterdam Circus Arts (the Netherlands). A conference on “Future circus arts education” was also organised by Turku University of Applied Sciences and the Finnish Circus Information Centre, with the collaboration of Sorin Sirkus, on Monday 22nd August: a very enriching opportunity to discover the energy of the Nordic circus arts education sector and to meet the people who keep it up.
