State School for Acrobatic Arts of Berlin

The State School for Acrobatic Arts of Berlin was founded in 1956. It has been working together with the State Ballet School of Berlin since 1991, managed by a common leadership team. It is the only school in Germany that offers an internationally recognised and state-approved qualification in acrobatics. Professional training is integrated with academic education.  Circus training and academic education start iin year 9, with at least 22 lessons per week of basic training in the principal acrobatic specialisms, and coverage of a  secondary modern school.

In Years 11 and 12, students continue their education at the vocational school which leads to  the state-approved qualification in acrobatics. It is also possible to take A-levels at the school.

The training in acrobatic arts is accompanied by courses in drama, mime and dancing.

In the 2009/2010, the school started the project "Extended Acrobatic Training", beginning in the Year 5.

There are 66 students of acrobatics at the school.
