Centre Régional des Arts du Cirque de Lomme - Lille

Full member

FEDEC member since 2005

The Centre Régional des Arts du Cirque de Lomme-Lille is managed by the association "Et vous trouvez ça drôle!!!", created in 1994. After developing circus workshops for the general public, professional training for circus artists was launched in 2000.

Two types of training are offered: Artistic Training and a "Classe Préparatoire à l'Enseignement Supérieur".

The aim of the Artistic Training is to enable students to enter the professional world after 3 years. It prepares students for professional certification as a "Circus and Movement Artist" (level 5 professional qualification, Bac + 2) registered with the French National Register of Professional Certifications (RNCP).

The Preparatory Class helps students prepare for entrance exams to circus arts schools in France and abroad. The preparatory course lasts 2 years.

In 2023-2024, 48 young people of 9 different nationalities were welcomed at CRAC Lomme. The training program is built around the following points:

  • Creation: at the heart of a living circus in perpetual motion, CRAC derives its difference and richness from its desire to bring together circus arts and other artistic disciplines around the ring. However, it's important to take students through a certain repertoire before focusing on their creativity.
  • Space: Circus is all about the circle. But you also need to be familiar with other performance venues: the stage, the street, spaces to be set up, prisons, etc.
  • Acting: at some point in their training, each student must confront the text (contemporary or repertory).
  • Dance: before feeling sufficiently at ease in their own bodies, students are required to acquire a technical grounding in classical dance, contemporary dance and hip hop.
  • Circus technique: technical elements will be introduced once they have been mastered.

Training offered

  • Artistic Training: 3 academic years of technical and artistic training (3 x 1050 hours at the center and 3x140 hours in internships). The next academic year begins in September 2024.
  • Classe Préparatoire à l'Enseignement Supérieur (Preparatory Class for Higher Education): 2-year program (2 x 900 hours at the school and 70 hours on placement). Next intake in September 2025 (a new class for two years of training).
