ENCC

Ecole Nationale de Cirque de Châtellerault

Preparatory school

Roser Segura and Dominique Toutlemonde opened the school in 1994.

In 1998, the school wrote the official order for a pioneering course in partnership with the French Ministry of Education: the 1st cohort of pupils began their literary baccalaureate with Circus Arts as an option.

The circus arts specialty at ENCC is an initial training which is carried out under conditions still unique in France: it is entirely managed by a permanent staff composed of specialists in performing arts and extra hours financed by Culture, all this allowing students to consider their orientation in higher schools.

The ENCC educational project considers the student's singularity and promotes the development of his autonomy to lead him to find his own artistic path. It implements a multidisciplinary pedagogy with times of exploration while keeping in mind complete and flourishing circus excellence.

The ENCC also supports young companies in residency in order to remain part of the reality of a profession and of the present day.

In 2020, the ENCC (re)launches a 2-year competitive examination preparation course.
