FLIC Scuola di Circo

Full member

FEDEC member since 2004

FLIC Scuola di Circo, founded in 2002, was the first school of professional training of contemporary circus in Italy.

The school’s didactic approach offers physical/technical training through physical preparation, acrobatics and dance combined with artistic research using circus equipment and circus actor, together aiming to create a new contemporary circus language. FLIC focuses on building a personal identity of the contemporary circus artist, with a special emphasis on the student as an individual, seeking to perceive and develop everyone’s potential and ambitions as an individual and in group work.

FLIC is located in central Turin in an historic 3,000m2 building. In 2015, a new multi-functional 700 m2 space was opened on the outskirts, dedicated to the professional school, open training for students and professionals and to host artists in residence, with the added capability to be transformed into a fully equipped black-box theatre.

FLIC Scuola di Circo is a project of the Royal Gymnastics Society of Turin, the oldest sporting association in Italy. It is supported by the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities as a centre of professional development, and by the Piedmont Region with the patronage of the Municipality of Turin.
