SENECA INTENSIV is the interdisciplinary educational institution for working with artistic movement in Berlin since 2007.

With its own studios in Berlin-Marzahn, SENECA INTENSIV is a place where you can further your education in a topic-specific and practical way: in dance, circus, physical theater as well as in matters of pedagogy, choreograpgy and production. Part-time or full-time. Here, qualified instructors meet participants from a wide variety of artistic fields: Up to date. Practical. Visionary.

Activities

What began as weekend seminars in dance and movement education has evolved over the years into a broad range of complementary programs, centered around six intensive programs:

Educational year Dance

The EDUCATIONAL YEAR DANCE is for people who want to deal intensively with dance and everything that is connected to it, both practically and theoretical. Ten intensive months of dance and choreography. The focus of this year is, besides diving into your individual experience of dance, on the artistic handling of this art form - as a dancer in different works of experienced choreographers, as a "creator" of an own artistic product, as an artist on stage.

Educational year Circus

The EDUCATIONAL YEAR CIRCUS is aimed at people who want to intensively study the art of contemporary circus for ten months, 5 days a week. In both practical and theoretical seminars, participants will have the opportunity to deepen their existing knowledge in the air, on the ground or in juggling, and to apply it in creative processes with experienced artists in the form of group and individual work.

Educational year Physical theatre

The EDUCATIONAL YEAR PHYSICAL THEATRE is aimed at people who want to explore the diversity of physical theater in all its depth. In an intensive and varied 10-months program of practical and theoretical workshops, participants explore, train, and refine their bodies together. The spectrum ranges from physical training, mime, clowning, and mask play to voice work and contemporary dance to improvisation, composition, and individual and partner acrobatics. You will explore both the dramatic and humorous dimensions of performance, work with objects, and discover public space as a stage.

Educational year Dance + voice

The EDUCATIONAL YEAR DANCE & VOICE is for people who want to spend ten months intensively exploring the connection between body and voice, both practically and theoretically. Singing, dancing, playing, combining movement and voice, developing figures, interpreting music, making texts audible and visible. Space for creativity, in a motivated group, but also in individual lessons.

Move & teach

MOVE & TEACH is the 13-month educational program for performing artists with a focus on teaching artistic-dance movement. It offers the opportunity for a comprehensive exploration of the field of interdisciplinary movement education, your own teaching body, and a holistic approach to the genre of ARTISTIC MOVEMENT. The diverse curriculum brings together arts practitioners from a variety of backgrounds and fosters creative potential in pedagogical and artistic processes. The program is designed for performing artists (dance, acrobratics, musical and musical theater, mime, drama) who wish to teach responsibly in their field.

Creation / Choregraphy / Autorship

A dynamic 3-months intensive program designed as a springboard for artists who want to expand their position as authors/choreographers/makers of their own work in the independent performing arts scene in Berlin and internationally. The program provides the tools, confidence and networks to develop and market freelance projects in the transdisciplinary and body-oriented performing arts. With a focus on choreography, creation and authorship, the program enables participants to initiate, plan and execute their own performance projects. From conception to realization, it provides an insight into the various levels of the creation process, as well as the framing project and production management.

In addition to these intensive programs, SENECA INTENSIV also offers ongoing individual and multi-day seminars for professional development in the areas of production, management and pedagogy.
