SENIOR CIRCUS ARTS MANAGER (all genders)

Job opportunity

TUI Cruises is looking for a full-time employee to start as soon as possible at its Berlin site as Senior Circus Arts Manager (all gender).

Essential duties & responsibilities

  • Creative management of the artistic department (management and support of new productions, creation of new acts & shows) and installation of the formats on board the Mein Schiff fleet in cooperation with the technical team 
  • Professional leadership of colleagues with people management tasks from the start to the end of their employment (onboarding/training, further development, feedback, target and staff appraisals, workshops, etc.) 
  • Organisation of freelancers incl. briefing and supervision 
  • Responsibility for circus material (definition, inventory, ordering process, safety, etc.) and coordination between the technology and artistic departments 
  • Further development of the department and its processes & procedures (office organisation, rehearsal planning, annual planning, budget planning, maintenance of master and archive material, etc.) 
  • Taking on casting tasks (casting, line-up, briefing, rehearsals, cast changes on board, etc.) 
  • Ensuring fast and smooth communication between land & ship, close cooperation with external service providers (especially with the main employer on board „Seachefs“)

Education, experience, knowledge & skills

  • Several years of in-depth experience in circus arts – both on and off stage combined with familiarity and creativity in the development of new acts & shows 
  • Very good knowledge and expertise in various aspects of circus arts, such as training organisation, various circus arts techniques, creation, casting, management – but also and especially in technical and safety-related topics such as material testing cycles and legal rules & regulations 
  • Strong conceptual and strategic planning skills 
  • Modern, cooperative management style paired with experience in employee development 
  • Knowledge of the Mein Schiff brand and the conditions on board our fleet is an advantage 
  • High level of commitment and realisation coupled with a reliable and precise way of working
  • Very good organisational skills, even under time or performance pressure  
  • Very good knowledge of MS Office and very good written and spoken English skills  
  • Willingness to work on board and occasional appointments in Hamburg
