Sziget 2026: Open call for FEDEC students

Call for participation

FEDEC is happy to offer its members the possibility to perform at the Sziget Festival! The festival will select 5 circus acts from FEDEC schools to perform twice during the festival.

📅 Deadline of the call: 20th of April 2026.
The results of this selection will be published by the 30th of April.

Objective of the call

This call aims to select up to 5 circus acts to be presented at Sziget Festival 2026 as part of the Midnight Circus Cabaret, at the venue called “The Joker”.

Participants & act requirements

  • The artists should be still students or alumni (recently graduated in 2025 or 2026) of one of FEDEC members.
  • They must be available between the 10th and 15th of August 2026.
  • The performances can be solos, duos or trios. The acts have to be presentable in a spiegel tent (“The Joker”) with the technical possibilities described below in the “Venue” section below.
  • The act must be between 3 - 8 minutes long.

Presentations

The selected acts will be presented twice during the Sziget Festival as part of the daily Cabaret, starting at midnight.

The festival provides

  • Accommodation at the artist camping, where a tent can be provided,
  • 3 meals and open bar in the backstage,
  • Fee: 600€ per artist (this fee includes the travel cost),
  • A Sziget festival pass,
  • Transport to and from the festival venue, to and from the airport, train or bus station.

Venue and technical requirements

  • The Cabaret will take place at the venue called “The Joker”: a spiegel type tent of 20m diameter (see images and floorplan here).
  • Rigging: one central rigging available with a static drop in point with a maximum rigging height of about 7 meters. Aerial motor not available, but counterweighting optional.
  • The venue will be equipped with sound and light set-up.

Selection process

  • Applications will be evaluated by the programmers of Sziget Festival.
  • The artistic proposals will be evaluated on the basis of:
    • Creativity, originality,
    • Artistic quality,
    • Adaptability to the venue & technical needs,
    • Fitting in the line-up of the Cabaret.

Candidates must apply by filling in this form before 20th of April 2026, providing:

  • A link to the video of the act,
  • The technical requirements,
  • Their contact details,
  • Their circus school (must be member of FEDEC).
