École nationale de cirque, Montreal (CAN)

Publication

In 2018, the Quebec government, through the Ministry of Culture and Communications, entrusted the National Circus School (ENC) with the mandate of developing the leisure, school and preparatory training pathway. The driving forces behind circus arts training in Quebec have united around this ENC-led project, creating a steering committee* that has identified structuring projects, including the Guide d'aménagement des espaces de formation et des équipements circassiens. The Centre de recherche, d'innovation et de transferts en arts du cirque (CRITAC) was commissioned to produce this tool to meet the needs of the sector.

In winter 2020, the project was entrusted to Fred Gérard, researcher and designer of apparatus and performance environments at CRITAC. Teams of experts and specialists were assembled to produce the guide.

In winter 2021, consultations were held with circus arts educators from various practices, both amateur and professional, to ensure that the guide met the needs and expectations of future users throughout the territory.
