Circus Studio Folie

Circus Studio Folie was founded in Tallinn, in the year 2000, with the initial aim of educating artists.

Folie`s mission today is to develop contemporary circus in the country.

Objectives

The three main goals of Folie are :

  • promotion of circus as an art form,
  • offering non-formal circus education,
  • and producing performances.

Activities

As a youth circus Circus Studio Folie is offering continuous circus training. The main discipline is acrobatics. Educational activities include training camps, visits to circus performances, workshops with guest trainers and performing at circus school events. The program for advanced groups goes on 6 days a week with a range of circus disciplines to choose, and dance and acting classes.

With advanced students and professionals circus productions are put on stage. Those performances are played in the theaters of Estonia as well as at different festivals abroad.

A format of an open air circus event is Circus Alley, that was first brought to life at the Tallinn Culture Capital 2011 Circus Tree Festival. Circus Alley is organised yearly at Tallinn Old Town Days festival but also at other events.

Circus Studio Folie is a founding member of the Estonian Contemporary Circus Development Centre and the Baltic Nordic Circus Network
