Every October, CIRCA Pôle National Cirque organizes the Festival du Cirque Actuel Circa. A pioneer among circus festivals, it was born in 1988 from a meeting of circus schools. Today, it is recognized as an essential event, showcasing contemporary circus creation in big tops, theatres and public spaces.

The Festival is the highlight of the year. In addition to the many programmed shows, it is also an opportunity for circus schools and professionals to meet. With its long history, the festival remains the favorite playground for circus schools: leisure and professional circus schools, as well as circus schools of higher education, meet and perform here every year under the aegis of the French (FFEC) and International (FEDEC) federations, bringing a freshness and energy to the event.

The festival is an opportunity for professional circus schools and professionals to meet and network. This event finally contributes to the professionalisation of young students and graduates.

Other missions and activities

In addition to its current circus festival, CIRCA Pôle National Cirque offers audiences a year-round program of live performances (multidisciplinary), various events (workshops, meetings, etc.), cultural initiatives (especially for schools and social groups) and support for circus arts creation, with companies in residency at CIRC (Centre de Recherche et d'Innovation Circassien). Circa also supports artists' careers and promotes the structuring of the circus industry at regional, national and international levels.
