La Volière is an artistic factory, a social laboratory, a platform for exchange as well as a resource center, structuring the circus sector and aerial disciplines.
La Volière aims to become a national and international reference point for aerial arts, a center of gravity for new artistic writing in the field, serving professionals and structuring the industry. Based in Saint-Nazaire (FRA) and conceived as a shared living space, La Volière aims to bring together local synergies through the inclusion of audiences and the transformation of practices.
La Volière offers a space for creation, learning and reflection in the service of contemporary circus, taking a sensitive look at vertical and suspensory aesthetics and writing. It explores aerial disciplines through a wide range of pedagogical, artistic, intellectual, cultural and economic avenues.
La Volière's vision is that of an artistic and cultural venue that accompanies societal transformations in its area by promoting a culture for all, in line with cultural rights and the inclusion of excluded audiences.
This project uses the circus as a tool for social cohesion, while responding to the need to structure a professional sector, and thus meet the challenges of tomorrow (culture & ecology, production and dissemination model, culture & inclusion...).
La Volière also aims to bring together local synergies within the same living space (CCI professionals, residents, companies, SSE structures, travelers, etc.), with a common goal: physical and artistic practices, the body in movement and the choreographic gesture.
La Volière aims to bring people together, transmit values, develop training, and contribute to the structuring of the circus arts sector and reflections on the evolution of its practices.
Its actions are organized around 5 thematic axes:
La Volière offers creative residencies for young international artists and emerging companies, focusing mainly on aerial disciplines.
La Volière offers professional training courses, under the Qualiopi label, such as “Conceiving and implementing a strategy for the production, distribution and administration of a circus show” in partnership with the Avant Courrier.
La Volière seeks to welcome all kinds of audiences by promoting mediation and educational projects in the circus arts. It is developing a “circus for all” program, to democratize cultural rights and offer remote audiences the chance to practice the circus arts. Finally, its residency events are open to its partners and the general public.
La Volière programs events in conjunction with local and international stakeholders: Focus Belge, Saut de Mouton, La Nuit du Cirque, Quel Cirque, Les Rencontres de danse aérienne, Côté Nature / Côté plages.
